Placeholder content. This document will be replaced with a finalized privacy policy reviewed by counsel before general availability.

1. Introduction

TaxBook (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates a federal tax research platform at taxbook.ai (the “Service”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have about that data.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information. Name, work email, employer, and role you provide when you create an account or request a demo.
  • Usage data. Pages viewed, searches run, and other interactions with the Service, used to operate, secure, and improve the product.
  • AI provider keys. When you connect a bring-your-own-AI key (Anthropic, OpenAI, Azure, AWS Bedrock), we store it encrypted at rest and use it only to forward your requests to the provider you selected.
  • Device & log data. IP address, user agent, and request timestamps captured by our infrastructure for diagnostics and abuse prevention.

3. How we use information

  • To deliver, maintain, and secure the Service.
  • To respond to support requests and communicate about your account.
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, or security incidents.
  • To comply with our legal obligations.

4. AI requests & your data

TaxBook is built on a bring-your-own-AI architecture. Prompts you send to AI features are routed through your AI provider account; we do not retain prompt or completion text on TaxBook servers beyond what is required to render the response back to you. See our Security page for the architectural detail.

5. Cookies & similar technologies

We use a small number of strictly necessary cookies (session, CSRF) and, with your consent, analytics cookies that help us improve the Service. You can manage your preferences from the cookie banner displayed on your first visit, or by clearing site data from your browser.

6. Sharing of information

We do not sell personal information. We share data only with subprocessors that help us operate the Service (e.g., cloud hosting, email delivery), under contractual obligations consistent with this policy. A current subprocessor list is available on request.

7. Data retention

We retain account data for as long as your account is active and for a limited period afterward to comply with legal and accounting requirements. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.

8. Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@taxbook.ai.

9. International transfers

TaxBook is operated from the United States. If you access the Service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S. under appropriate safeguards.

10. Changes to this policy

We’ll post material changes to this policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
